The Cool-Collar is a simple and very low-tech way of
helping to keep your dog’s body temperature in a
comfortable range by keeping its chest area wet and
cool.
The Cool-Collar helps create perspiration (something
dogs don’t naturally do) to help cool the dog by
evaporation. It helps reduce heat related discomfort and
distress, just like putting
a cool, wet towel on the back of your neck and chest,
but for dogs.
Either fill the Cool-Collar with ice or with the
non-toxic, reusable chill strip, which wets the coat as
it melts. The combination of the cool strip or the
melting ice activates an evaporative cooling effect.
Dogs cool themselves by panting – sucking in cooler air;
pushing out warm air. Unlike humans they don’t perspire
so don’t naturally cool by evaporation. If the air
temperature gets above their body temperature, then the
dog’s natural cooling mechanism doesn’t work so well.
If you are out and about, be very conscious of your
dog’s temperature. If you are out in the heat, find
shade, get your dog’s underbelly and chest wet if you
can, and if you feel they are in distress act quickly.

Never, ever, ever leave your dog in the car in warm
conditions. Even with the windows down, cool collars on,
in the shade or with a bowl of water to drink the
temperature in the car builds rapidly and can cause harm
or death. Just don’t do it!
When fitting the Cool-Collar have it sit low and lose
around the neck.
